Cloud Cost Dashboard Integration: Managing Expenses and Decision Making
Overview
Acrontum developed a central dashboard for a global automobile manufacturer to consolidate cost data from AWS and Azure. Previously, these data were manually retrieved and merged from various cloud providers, which was time-consuming. The new solution significantly improved the visibility of cloud expenditures, allowing decision-makers across departments to make informed decisions without needing deep technical DevOps knowledge.
Client need
The client needed a solution to consolidate and unify cost data from AWS and Azure into a central dashboard. The goal was to link all cost-related data from the various cloud providers with the client’s metadata, providing extensive filtering options and permissions management. This should give department heads, business leaders, and purchasers a better overview of cloud costs within the company.
Highlight
The dashboard received high praise from the IT managers responsible for managing cloud accounts and was recently highlighted by the CIO during a global internal workshop of the IT department.
Solution built
Acrontum integrated Azure cost data, user reports, recommendations, and forecasts into the existing AWS cloud cost databases and dashboards. The dashboard linked all cost-related data with the client’s metadata and offered extensive filtering options as well as efficient permissions management.

Client Situation
The client used both AWS and Azure for their scalable cloud solutions, leading to complex and hard-to-understand cost structures. Business leaders and purchasers lacked a clear overview of total expenditures because the cost data were fragmented and not linked to company-specific metadata such as departments. Department heads could only get an overview of their departments’ cloud costs using their own solutions, resulting in inefficient management and made informed decision-making more difficult.
Approach
Acrontum worked closely with the client to define the essential functionalities of the central dashboard and understand the existing methods of data compilation. After a detailed analysis of the existing AWS-based solution and evaluation of integration possibilities on the Azure side, Acrontum optimized and implemented the data ingestion pipelines.
Outcome
The implementation of the central dashboard led to a significant improvement in cloud cost visibility and management. The dashboard provided an easy-to-understand cost overview, enabling business leaders and purchasers to make informed decisions about their cloud solutions without needing deep technical DevOps knowledge. The consolidated view of AWS and Azure cost data, along with extensive filtering options and permissions management, greatly improved analysis and reporting capabilities.
